Tigers On Tap 2013

A Night with the
Houston Texas Tigers

at St. Arnold Brewing Company

Thursday, March 21

The Houston Texas Tigers are excited to announce we raised $7,000 at Tigers On Tap.
We had a great time at St. Arnold's Brewing Company on Thursday. Thank you to everyone that made our special event, which will benefit our endowed scholarship fun, a great success.

In 2012 more students from the Houston area enrolled at the University of Missouri than any previous year. The Houston Texas Tigers chapter of the Mizzou Alumni Association supports these students through our Endowed Scholarship Fund, which grants scholarships to returning Mizzou students from our area.

The Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by alumni leaders in our area in 2007 and has enabled us to award a total of $7,000 in scholarships thus far. Read more about our scholarships here.

That money has helped numerous Houston-area Tigers, who told us how the scholarship helped them and why they picked Mizzou.

2013 Special Guest Speaker
Dr. Cerry Klein
Lead facilitator, Mizzou Advantage’s focus on Sustainable Energy

Mizzou Advantage fosters interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty, staff, students and external partners to address and solve real-world needs and problems in four areas of strength identified at Mizzou:

Food for the Future: The culture, economics and production of healthy, affordable food
Media of the Future: New ways to communicate, educate and market
One Health/One Medicine: The convergence of animal and human health
Sustainable Energy: Developing and distributing renewable energy sources

Through the leadership of Dr. Cerry Klein, Mizzou is advancing the frontiers of global energy issues. As Professor in the Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering Department at Mizzou, Dr. Klein is the lead facilitator for the Mizzou Advantage focus on Sustainable Energy. His efforts connect a wide array of expertise and resources all located on the same campus, allowing Mizzou to do things no other university can to impact this global priority.

The Mizzou Advantage focus on Sustainable Energy addresses energy issues broadly, building on MU’s Research Reactor, MU’s biomass power plant, research in biofuels, biomass and energy efficiency, the College of Engineering and education programs in nuclear and other kinds of energy. This initiative also examines policy and its implications, business models, environmental impacts and the cultural and social consequences of energy uses and production.
