Welcome to the home of the Houston Texas Tigers (HTT),
a 14-time Capstone chapter of the Mizzou Alumni Association.
The Houston Texas Tigers boast a proud history of service to the University of Missouri. There are 2,562 alumni in the Houston area. Our chapter has 408 members, including 40+ student members in Columbia.

M-I-Z, Z-O-O? Join us Sunday, March 3 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Houston Zoo's Red Pavilion for Truman the Tiger's birthday party! We'll have pizza, soft drinks, and an enclosed indoor pavilion space for this kid-friendly event, complete with an "animal experience" and much more. Each ticket is valid for zoo admission, carousel rides, and admission to our private party, which includes the guided experience with a zookeeper. We have 25 tickets at our discounted $15 rate, so act quickly! (Buy tickets here.)

Thanks to all who joined us January 26 for our annual Houston Texas Tigers service project. As part of the project, nearly 20 Houston-based alums helped organize items at the Houston Food Bank warehouse! The Service Day is a requirement for Capstone status, which helps our chapter award Mizzou scholarships to Houston-area students.

Houston Texas Tigers Welcome Mizzou for Texas Bowl

Our chapter recently hosted a bowl welcome party and helped the Mizzou Alumni Association host its official Tiger Tailgate prior to December's Texas Bowl, which pitted Mizzou against the University of Texas. Thanks to all who attended!

                            Student Sendoff

Our chapter hosted numerous Houston-area students who are starting their Mizzou career this fall. Our annual Student Sendoff gave students - from various area high schools - and their families a chance to meet each other and visit with local alumni. The Houston Texas Tigers wish all our students the best of luck as the new semester begins.

Award-Winning Volunteer

Congratulations to HTT’s own Erika Harrison. Erika has won the Mizzou Alumni’s Regional GOLD Award, honoring outstanding volunteering by a recent graduate. Erika was honored in CoMo during MAA’s Leaders Weekend in September.
Erika’s involvement with the Houston Texas Tigers has not been a long one, but it has been extremely impactful.

As Mizzou has gone through the challenges of the past two years Erika has taken the time to provide perspective for our local chapter and leadership among national alumni. Erika’s name was at the top of the list of supporters who signed a petition in support of reactivating Mizzou’s Black Alumni Network, and she was named the president of the alumni group this spring.

As a recent graduate and a Houston native, Erika has provided great support to student recruiting efforts in our area. Erika first became involved with the Houston Texas Tigers in 2015, and immediately offered to serve as the chapter Secretary. As a passionate foodie and blogger, she’s organized outings to some of the hottest spots on Houston’s extensive restaurant scene.

Support our Scholarship Fund

Our alumni chapter created an Endowed Scholarship fund in 2007 and has given more than $30,000 in scholarships to deserving students from our area attending Mizzou since.

Through fundraising events and alumni donations, we are able to help ensure that the best and brightest students from our area have an opportunity to join the Mizzou family. Donations of any amount truly make an impact toward helping these students reach their future success.

You can now donate online through our chapter's Giving To Mizzou page.

M-I-Z in H-O-U

Houston Texas Tigers board members joined MU Admissions, Res Life, New Student Programs and representatives from several of MU's colleges - including current students - to host Houston-area juniors and seniors interested in and headed to Mizzou.
